Diaspora Business Day of the municipalities of Negotin and Kladovo, which were held at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Austria, were an opportunity to establish concrete cooperation with our diaspora in Austria. The hosts of these two events were His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Nebojša Rodić, representatives of the municipality of Negotin: Mr. Bogdan Gugić, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality and Ms. Sladjana Stojanović, Head of the Department for Social Activities, Economy and Economic Development, as well as members of the Kladovo municipality administration, Mr. Bojan Božanović, Deputy Mayor and Mr. Slavoljub Maletić, assistant to the Mayor of the Kladovo municipality. The event was organized by the Link Up! Serbia II project which is implemented by ICMPD.
This event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, representatives of ICMPD, the Regional Agency for the Development of Eastern Serbia (RARIS), as well as members of our diaspora who live and work in Vienna and who are interested in investing in their homeland. Among the guests were Mr. Jovica Stanojević from the European Association of Friends of Urovica (Evropsko udruženje prijatelja Urovice), Mr. Saša Božinović, Vice president of the Serbian Cultural Center “Stevan Mokranjac” in Vienna and Aleksandar Saša Stanković, president of KSD Bambi from Vienna.
Representatives of the local governments of Negotin and Kladovo presented the investment potential of their municipalities and listened to our people who live and work in Austria. During the event, investors from the diaspora talked about their business initiatives towards their homeland, investment challenges and opportunities to overcome these in cooperation with municipalities, and the potentials for wider diaspora investment in their home regions were also presented. The goal is to secure and support 10 investments of the diaspora towards their home regions in Serbia during the next meetings.
